Encore Magazine Demographics

Encore Magazine is published nine times yearly, September through May. Average monthly circulation is 12,500.

The primary distribution is at Miller Auditorium on the Western Michigan University campus for Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra concerts and most touring productions and celebrity concerts. Distribution also occurs at all Kalamazoo Civic Theatre main stage productions. Additional copies are mailed to Kalamazoo Country Club members, subscribers, advertisers and doctor and dentist office waiting rooms. Multiple copies are hand delivered to retirement villages and selected merchants. Newsstand copies are available at Michigan News Agency.

Analysis of Miller Auditorium patrons and Kalamazoo area residents:

Over 20,000 households, nearly 25% of the total in the Kalamazoo area, are Miller Auditorium patrons. In terms of age, about 50% of Miller Auditorium patrons are between 40-59. Children under 18 are present in 28% of patron households, a very large percentage, and a clear sign of a potential market for family programming.

Approximately 72% of Miller Auditorium patrons have annual incomes over $50,000, compared to 48% for the general population in the area.

In the Kalamazoo/Portage area, the education level is higher than the Michigan average. For example, among adults over 25 in Kalamazoo, 12% have a graduate degree, compared to 7% state-wide. Bachelor's degrees are held by 17% of Kalamazoo-area residents, while in Michigan as a whole the number drops to 11%.
