Encore Magazine Demographics
Encore Magazine is published nine times yearly, September through May.
Average monthly circulation is 12,500.
The primary distribution is at Miller Auditorium on the Western Michigan
University campus for Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra concerts and most touring
productions and celebrity concerts. Distribution also occurs at all
Kalamazoo Civic Theatre main stage productions. Additional copies are mailed
to Kalamazoo Country Club members, subscribers, advertisers and doctor and
dentist office waiting rooms. Multiple copies are hand delivered to
retirement villages and selected merchants. Newsstand copies are available
at Michigan News Agency.
Analysis of Miller Auditorium patrons and Kalamazoo area residents:
Over 20,000 households, nearly 25% of the total in the Kalamazoo area, are
Miller Auditorium patrons. In terms of age, about 50% of Miller Auditorium
patrons are between 40-59. Children under 18 are present in 28% of patron
households, a very large percentage, and a clear sign of a potential market
for family programming.
Approximately 72% of Miller Auditorium patrons have annual incomes over
$50,000, compared to 48% for the general population in the area.
In the Kalamazoo/Portage area, the education level is higher than the
Michigan average. For example, among adults over 25 in Kalamazoo, 12% have a
graduate degree, compared to 7% state-wide. Bachelor's degrees are held by
17% of Kalamazoo-area residents, while in Michigan as a whole the number
drops to 11%.
