Something Musical

Hear the Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra

Here’s a history lesson: Kalamazoo had several mandolin orchestras in the late 1800s through the early 1900s. Now, nearly a century later, we have one again, and you can hear the group perform Jan. 8.

The Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra will perform at 2 p.m. at The Fountains, 535 S. Riverview Drive, Parchment. The event is presented by the Parchment Community Library as part of its “Second Sundays Live” series.

The Kalamazoo Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra is a plucked string ensemble that plays mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, guitars and bass and performs a wide variety of music, from classical to pop to ethnic tunes.

Admission is free and doors open at 1:30 pm.
